Location-specific well water quality guides, compiled from official EPA and state government environmental data. Click any highlighted state on the map to explore active county reports, or browse the directory below as we continuously expand coverage nationwide.
Every county report on this site is built from real groundwater lab results, not estimates. We summarize thousands of well samples from the USGS and EPA Water Quality Portal into the numbers that matter to a private well owner: typical hardness, iron and pH, and how often nitrate, arsenic and other health-based contaminants exceed federal and state limits. Each report also explains which aquifer local wells draw from, what your state recommends testing for, and which treatment usually fits local water. Start with your state, then open your county. The figures describe your area, not your own well, so always confirm them with a certified lab test.
States highlighted in blue have active county-level diagnostics available. Select a state to explore local well water quality profiles.
